Raymond Belden

Raymond Belden, age 93, of York, passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2018, at the Hearthstone in York.

A Graveside Memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 24 at thef Scottsville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family to designate at a later date. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: RAYMOND BELDEN

Raymond Dean Belden, the son of Clarence and Edna (Daughtery) Belden, was born at Scottsville, Kansas, on April 18, 1925, and passed away at York, Nebraska, on November 15, 2018, at the age of 93.

Ray served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was enlisted from August 1944 and was honorable discharged in July 1946.

Ray was a true traveler, starting at Caribou, ME, Presque Isel, ME, Merced,CA, Orlando, FL, Atlanta, GA, El Paso, TX, Slidell, LA, Philadelphia, PA, Wichita, KS, Superior, NE, Beloit, KS, Glen Elder, KS and York, NE all working for Boeing & Cessna Aircraft. He took joy in being a camp host in the state of Arizona and Colorado in later years, during the winter months. He retired early to care for his mother, whom he loved dearly.

Ray loved Nebraska football, hunting, fishing and camping. He made it a point to introduce guns for hunting to family members and the importance of the NRA to all family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister & brother-in-law, Thomas McIntosh & Joy (Belden) McIntosh; brother-in-law, Raymond Tucker; niece, Debbie Jo McIntosh and nephew, Clarence (C.T.) Tucker.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his son, Randy H. (Diane) Drew of York; two step-sons, Chris (Wallis) Drew and Greg (Dawn) Drew; sister, Gladys Tucker of Manhatten, KS; 3 granddaughters, Wendy Samson of Pleasant Dale, Stacy (Marc) Groetzinger of Aurora and Amber Drew of Lincoln; great-grandchildren, Madison Reed, Jack Reed, Claire Reed, Vivian Auxier and Betsy Samson of Pleasant Dale, Hayden and Lena Groetzinger of Aurora, and Ryder and Hunter Carlson, Jaxon Corbin of Lincoln; niece, Terry (Joe) Collins and first cousin, Joey; nephew, Gene (Sue) Tucker all from Manhattan, KS; first nephew, Tommy (Bethany) Engdahl and two sons, Leo and Teddy all of Derby, KS; cousin, Doug Daughtery of Beloit, KS; and other relatives and friends.
