Margaret Berthelsen, age 78, of Aurora, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at Memorial Community Care.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, October 21st at Seventh Day Adventist Church, 636 South Shady Bend Road, Grand Island. Rev. Nelson Rossi and Rev. Francois Erasmas will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 - 7 P.M. Thursday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. OBITUARY: MARGARET BERTHELSEN
Margaret A. Berthelsen, the daughter of Leonard and Clare (Meyers) Livingston was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on December 25, 1937 and passed away in Aurora, Nebraska on October 18, 2016, at the age of 78.
She was grew up in Baton Rouge and graduated from Baton Rouge High School. Margaret graduated from Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska with a secretarial science degree.
Margaret became a salesperson for the Century Mfg. Co. bathing systems in Alabama and Mississippi. She was instrumental in selling a bathing unit to then Governor George Wallace to aid in his recovery following his shooting. In 1973, she attended a sales meeting in Brownsville, Texas where she met Century Vice President Calvin Berthelsen. The two were married in 1974 at the home of her parents, Leonard & Clare Livingston in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She moved to Aurora, Nebraska to begin their new life.
Margaret was a life-long member of the Seventh Day Adventist church and was active in many youth programs. She was a meeting leader and spokesperson for Weight Watchers in Baton Rouge and was a lifetime member. Margaret loved life and when she smiled it made everyone around her feel loved. She loved spending time with her family and was especially proud of her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband and retired businessman, Cal Berthelsen of Aurora; three children, Loren Berthelsen of Los Angeles, California, Tara (Gary) Berthelsen and Julie (Robert) Weber all of Aurora; 5 grandchildren: Oliver (Georgia) Berthelsen, Myles Berthelsen, Eliott Berthelsen, Nicholas Weber and Allyson Weber and one great-grandson, Rex Berthelsen.
