Jack Crawford, age 77, of Phillips, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Tiffany Square in Grand Island.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, October 22nd at the United Methodist Church in Phillips. Pastor Mahlon Richardson will officiate. Interment will be in the Phillips Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 - 7 P.M. Friday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. The family requests casual attire for the services. OBITUARY: JACK CRAWFORD
Jack Wayne Crawford, the son of Elbert Forney and Grace Faye (Hafer) Crawford, was born in Aurora, Nebraska on December 7, 1938 and passed away in Grand Island, Nebraska on October 18, 2016, at the age of 77.
Jack grew up in Hamilton & Hall County. He graduated from Doniphan High School in 1957. Jack served in the U.S. Army for three years being honorably discharged February 5, 1962.
Jack was married to Mary Hinrichs on February 19, 1967 at Giltner, Nebraska. They had three sons: Troy, Tim and Terry. They made their home in Phillips. Jack was a Postal Clerk in Grand Island for over 30 years before retiring in 1995. To keep busy after retirement, he worked at Bonnavilla Homes and OTI Trucking.
Jack loved trapshooting, woodworking & building tractors in his shop, classical music, John Wayne and John Deere. Jack’s favorite times by far were the times spent with his family and friends reminiscing and telling stories.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, James, Richard and Keith Crawford and a sister, Elberta Scott.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Crawford of Phillips; three sons, Troy (Elaine) Crawford of Aurora, Tim (Nicole) Crawford of Laramie, Wyoming and Terry Crawford of San Mateo, California; two grandsons, Derek and Drake; step-grandchildren, Autumn, Cody and Garrett Effenbeck. Jack is also survived by his three brothers, Larey (Marlene) Crawford of Phillips, Monte Crawford and Craig (Denise) Crawford all of Grand Island; two sisters, Susan (David) Rumfeldt of Missouri and Karen Rollins of Central City; sister-in-law, Marjorie Crawford and nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
