Lois Darlington, age 83, of Kearney, formerly of Aurora and Grand Island, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at Mt. Carmel Home in Kearney.
A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 9th at the Memorial Community Care Dining Room in Aurora. Rev. Karl Larson will officiate. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date. No Visitation. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. OBITUARY: LOIS DARLINGTON
Lois Mae Darlington was born in Franklin, Nebraska on May 4, 1932 and passed away in Kearney, Nebraska on February 24, 2016, at the age of 83.
Lois grew up in Franklin. She trained as a nurse, earning her LPN Diploma.
Lois married Tom Darlington on September 14, 1952 at Chadron, Nebraska. Lois was a stay at home mother raising their two daughters, Deborah and Ann. Tom worked for the Federal Aviation Administration at the Chadron Airport. In 1968, he became a maintenance supervisor for the FAA in the Nebraska Panhandle, and they moved to Scottsbluff. In 2012, they moved to Primrose Independent Living in Grand Island, where Lois continued to reside until 2014, when she moved to Memorial Community Care in Aurora. In May of 2015, health issues required her to move to Mt. Carmel Home in Kearney, where she spent the remainder of her days.
Lois was a member of the Scottsbluff Elks Club and PEO.
She was preceded in death by her husband Tom on February 1, 2013; daughter, Ann Wohlers and an infant son.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Deborah (Tim) Arthur of Aurora; adopted son, Louis Darlington of Yankton, South Dakota: 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and sister, Helen (Richard) McCracken of Kansas City.
