Zelda Henderson, age 91, of Hampton, passed away Friday, May 15, 2020, at home with her family by her side.
Due to the COVID-19 restrictions in place at this time, private family interment will be at the Hampton Cemetery. The family will hold a Memorial Service at a later date. OBITUARY: AZELDA HENDERSON
Azelda Virginia Henderson, the daughter of John B. and Bertha (Nash) St. Pierre, was born at Charles Mix, South Dakota on April 14, 1929 and passed away in Hampton, Nebraska on May 15, 2020, at the age 91.
She grew up in South Dakota and graduated from Lake Andes High School. Zelda attended college for a year and then taught school for a year.
On September 8, 1950, she was united in marriage to Gordon 'Bill' Henderson. Bill brought three sons to the marriage: LeRoy, Bud and Jerry. Zelda and Bill had three daughters: Sandi, Kathy and Deb. Bill worked in construction, so over the years the family lived in South Dakota, Kansas, Illinois, ended in Nebraska. In 1963, Zelda purchased the drug store in Hampton, called Hampton Sundries. She operated this until 1974. Bill passed away on June 4, 1987. Zelda then became a caregiver for several families in Hampton. After that she began working at the Village Square in Aurora. She worked there until 2009. Zelda was a very loving, caring, and kind. Her door was always open for anyone to stop by for a visit. She loved having a house full of people during the holidays, and everyone was always welcome at her house.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; step-son, Bud Henderson and seven siblings, Arville, Norma, Lou, Nellie, Dee, Vivian and Velma.
Those who remain to cherish her memory are her three daughters, Sandi (Butch) VanWormer of Aurora and their two children, Nikki (Tom) Richardson and daughters, Brookly and Ryah Richardson, Shawn VanWormer and daughter, Darcie VanWormer and step-daughter, Cadence Jarzinka; daughter, Kathy Henderson (Rod Jensen) and her two sons, Brent and Cody of Colorado; daughter, Deb (Deryl) Kliewer of Hampton and their son, Brandon (Monica) and their two children, Brody and Kooper; two step-sons, LeRoy (Sarah) Henderson and family, Jerry (Betty) Henderson and family all of Texas, Linda Henderson and family of Oklahoma, sister, Lil of Colorado along with several nieces and nephews.
