Virgene 'Jeanie' Jensen

Jeanie Jensen, age 73, of Aurora, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at CHI Health-St. Francis in Grand Island.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, March 21st at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora. Inurnment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. No Visitation. The family requests casual attire for the service. Memorials may be made to the family to designate at a later date. OBITUARY: VIRGENE ‘JEANIE’ JENSEN

Virgene ‘Jeanie’ Elisabeth (Wright) Jensen, the daughter of Virgil and Olga (Hansen) Wright, was born at Aurora, Nebraska on December 15, 1942 and passed away in Grand Island, Nebraska on March 16, 2016, at the age of 73.

She grew up on the family farm in Hamilton County and graduated from Aurora High School.

In 1962, Jeanie was married to Glen Friesen. Two children were born to this union: Angie and Chris. Jeanie worked as a waitress and bartender in the Aurora area. Over the years, she worked at Dick’s Café, Tree Tops, Korner Bar and the Bowling Alley.

On January 20, 1982, Jeanie was united in marriage to Dick Jensen.

Jeanie was a 4-H Leader and a member of the Saddle Club. She enjoyed her bowling league, NASCAR, fishing, Nebraska sports and being around her animals. She enjoyed her horses and cattle. Jeanie especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Janet Strotman and Marilyn Hahn.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Dick Jensen of Aurora; children, Angie (Mitch) Lane of Fullerton and Chris (Jenny) Friesen of Hampton, Kipton (Marion) Jensen, Kealei (Jim) Castle and Dick (D.J.) (Penny) Jensen all of Atlanta, Georgia; 14 grandchildren, Riley and Caitlin Lane and special friend Taylor Smith, Courtney Friesen, Luke, Kaila, Britney and Kaitlyn Castle, Shanael Elge, Gabriel Case, Ariane, Silvia and William Jensen, Noel Graham and Bradley Graham and many other family members and friends.
