Ruth Jones

Ruth Jones, age 94, of Aurora, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2016, at CHI-St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 12th at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Rev. Mary Scott and Stacy Tipton will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 - 7 P.M. Friday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.


Gladys ‘Ruth’ Jones, the daughter of Floyd and Gladys (Burrier) Bouchard, was born in Tamora, Nebraska on February 20, 1922 and passed away in Grand Island, Nebraska on March 5, 2016, at the age of 94.

She grew up in the Utica area. Ruth met her future husband, Willis Jones, at a dance. They were married May 16, 1940, the night of her high school graduation from Utica High School. During WWII they moved to Portland, Oregon. On their return to Nebraska they resided at Columbus, Nebraska. They moved to a farm southwest of Central City. Willis passed away on June 4, 1981. Ruth stayed on the farm until 1986, when she moved into Aurora.

Ruth was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, cooking and traveling. Most importantly, she loved her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Dr. Michael Jones; son-in-law, Max Tipton; two brothers, Dale Bouchard and Dr. Leon Miller and a sister, Joann Hopwood.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Lynne Tipton of Enfaula, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Jones Fry of Weston, Missouri; 6 grandchildren, Tammy (Dr. John Allen of Phillips, Kim (Dr. Frank McCafferty) of Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Tim (Caroline Jones) of Phillips, Stacy (Terry) Tipton of Eufaula, Oklahoma, Aaron (Hope) Tipton of Vail, Arizona and Zack (Shady) Tipton of Safford, Arizona; 7 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; brother, Blaine (Janice) Miller and sister-in-law, Sherry Miller.
