Henry E Kliewer, age 84, of Aurora, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2016, with family at his side at Memorial Hospital.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, April 14th at Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson. Rev. Jim Voth will officiate. Private Family inurnment will be at a later date. Henry donated his body to science. Visitation will be from 5 - 7 P.M. Wednesday at Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Nebraska Mennonite Central Committee Relief Sale. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. OBITUARY: HENRY E. KLIEWER
Henry E. Kliewer was born on December 11, 1931, to Henry A and Elizabeth (Wieler) Kliewer in Henderson, Nebraska.
Upon Henry’s confession of faith in Jesus Christ, he was baptized by Arnold Nickel at the Bethesda Mennonite Church on May 28, 1950. He was a lifelong member of the Bethesda Mennonite Church.
He graduated from Henderson High School in May of 1950.
Henry was married to Cornelia Peters on April 8, 1953 at Bethesda Mennonite Church by Arnold Nickel. They were married for 63 years and 2 days. To this union were born five children: Kelly, Chester, Marty, Andrew and Dick.
Henry served in Voluntary Service in Reedley, California from 1952 to 1954. Upon his return to Henderson, he started farming and retired from his farm by Aurora, Nebraska in 1998. His joys in life; were volunteering his services to neighbors, friends, MDS, MCC and collecting antique tractors and engines. When he wasn’t volunteering, he loved to farm. He was always there for his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Henry is survived by his wife Cornelia, four sons and one daughter, Kelly (Becky) of Aurora, Chester of York, Marty of Lincoln, Andrew (Susan) of Papillion, and Dick (Mindy) of Aurora.
Grandchildren: Mark (Becky) Kliewer, Kearney, Paul Kliewer and Gina Conyers, Kearney, Sadie (Brandon) Young, Lincoln, Emily (James) McCartney, Newton Kansas, Jacob Kliewer, Kansas City, Austin Kliewer, Troy, New York, and Marie Kliewer, Papillion. Sydney and Jacalyn, Kliewer, Aurora.
Great grandchildren: Henry and William Kliewer, Kearney, Jacquobi Kliewer, Kearney, Levi and Elizabeth Young, Lincoln, Makaylah and Baby McCartney, Newton, KS.
Survivors are sisters, Edna Friesen and Betty (Richard) Day; brothers-in-law, Jake Peters, Herb (Jean) Peters; sister-in-law, Esther Peters; sister-in-law, Elvera Peters; brothers-in-law, John (Donna) Peters, Levi (Leanna) Peters
Henry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Fred (Joyce) Kliewer; brothers-in-law, Levi Friesen, Henry (Leora) Peters, Art (Lena) Peters; sisters-in-law, Marie (Vic) Miller and Hilda (Howard) Friesen; brothers-in-law, Clarence Peters and Ed Peters.
