Marion Larsen

Marion Larsen, 84, Grand Island, formerly of Marquette, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016, at Grand Island.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, September 9th at St. John Lutheran Church in Kronborg. Rev. Ben Erzkus will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 7 P.M. Thursday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Memorials may be made to the Vietnam Veterans Hero Flight Fund. Marion Dean Larsen, the son of Gilbert and Kate (Danhauer) Larsen, Sr., was born at Marquette, Nebraska on August 5, 1932 and passed away at Grand Island, Nebraska on September 4, 2016, at the age of 84.

Marion grew up on a farm near Marquette, where he graduated from Marquette High School. Marion served three years in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War before being honorably discharged.

Marion Larsen was married to Loretta Morrison on March 22, 1953 at Central City. They farmed west of Marquette until 1961. They then moved to Grand Island, where Marion entered the real estate business. In 1978 they moved to Scottsdale, Arizona and later returned to Nebraska to build a home on their farm north of Marquette. Here they resided in the summer and fall months. Loretta passed away on November 1, 1997. Marion continued to spend winters in Arizona and summers in Nebraska.

Marion was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church at Kronborg, Grand Island Eagles, The Liederkrantz and local realtor association.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Mike Larsen; grandson, B.J. Rybicki; sister, Betty Ortegren and brother, Gib Larsen.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his three children, Marion Steve Larsen of Surprise, Arizona, Susan (Barry) Rybicki of Scottsdale, Arizona and Debra (John) Janky of Chapman, 9 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren 5 step great-grandchildren; significant other, Lorraine Pinto of Florida and other relatives and friends.
