Dean Lemkau

Dean Lemkau, age 78, of Aurora, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, February 25th at the Messiah Lutheran Church. Rev. Sarah Ruch will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date. No Visitation. Dean donated his body to science. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the family to designate at a later date. OBITUARY: DEAN LEMKAU

Dean Richard Lemkau, the son of Frank and Mary (Hoppens) Lemkau, was born in Clay Center, Nebraska on May 5, 1938 and passed away in Grand Island, Nebraska on February 21, 2017, at the age of 78.

Dean spent a majority of his life living on a farm in Clay County with his five brothers and two sisters. He attended Clay Center High School. Dean worked various jobs including: farming, local co-op, mechanic, welding mechanic and a maintenance worker at Bonnavilla Homes, where he retired from.

Dean was married to Germaine Houchin on November 27, 1993.

Dean attended Messiah Lutheran Church. He enjoyed spending time with family, being outdoors and working on many projects.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Nancy Lemkau; step-son, Lonnie Houchin; four brothers, Lyle, Bob, Jerry and Dale Lemkau and a brother-in-law, Archie Kriutzfield.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Germaine of Aurora; his five children, Terri Alberts of Superior, Rick (April) Lemkau of Sutton, Doyle (Jennifer) Lemkau of Grand Island, Dawn (Douglas) Petersen of Aurora and Tammie (Jay) Ferris of Seward; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Irene Kriutzfield of Lincoln and MaryLou (Dave) Swanson of Wichita Falls, Texas and a brother, Kenny (Wanda) Lemkau of Centennial, Colorado.
