Connie Meyer

Connie Meyer, age 69, formerly of Aurora, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at her home in Adams, Nebraska.

A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 A.M., Thursday, October 18th at the Chapel of Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Chaplin Sharon Schuster will officiate. Connie’s wishes were for cremation and the family will have a private service at the Aurora Cemetery prior to the Memorial Service. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 P.M. Wednesday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Connie Rae Meyer, the only child of Clarence (Hap) and Ella (Rains) Dieckmann was born on November 14, 1948 in Hastings, Nebraska and passed away on October 9, 2018 at Adams, Nebraska at the age of 69.

The family farmed 3 miles east of Giltner until moving to Aurora in 1961, where Connie graduated from Aurora High School in 1966. Connie then completed Sar-Rob cosmetology school in Grand Island in 1966.

Connie was married to Richard ‘Rich’ Meyer (originally from Bassett, NE) on August 3, 1968 in Aurora. She worked and owned several salons for the next 44 years, until her retirement. This took them to Adams, NE to be closer to their two sons & families. Connie and Rich were married 44 years before Rich passed away on July 19, 2013.

Connie loved spending time with her family and friends! They loved camping, jeeping and antique shopping.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rich and her parents, Clarence (Hap) and Ella Dieckmann.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Bryan and LeAnne Meyer of Lincoln and Kevin Meyer and significant other Kristen Rademacher of Adams; step-daughter, Laurie Meyer and significant other Jeff Blackden of Parker, CO; 6 grandchildren, Amanda & Ally Burke of Davenport, IA, Nichelle, Katie & Sadie Meyer of Adams and Cierra & Jordan Meyer of Lincoln and other family members and friends.
