William ‘Bill’ Moderow, age 83, of Aurora, passed away Friday, July 29, 2016 at the Veterans Medical Center in Omaha.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, August 3rd at the Chapel of Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Pastor Tim Wells will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: WILLIAM MODEROW
William Emil Moderow, the son of Benjamin A. and Florence M. (Meerkatz) Moderow, was born at Scribner, Nebraska on April 27, 1933 and passed away at Omaha, Nebraska on July 29, 2016, at the age of 83.
Except for three years in Southern California and South Texas, Bill grew up in Aurora, Nebraska. He graduated from Aurora High School in 1951. Bill enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and rose to the rank of First Lieutenant. He was a navigator-bombardier on a B-47 bomber during the Cold War. Bill was honorably discharged in June 1957.
Bill attended Colorado State at Trinidad. He majored in gunsmithing with a minor in art. While pursuing a career in art and writing, he worked at a number of occupations, mostly home and church construction. His writing and artwork appeared in many national magazines.
Bill was a member of the Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Aurora.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, James and Thomas.
Those left to cherish his memories are his sister, Mary (Glen) Frey of DeSoto, Kansas; several nieces and nephews and friends.
