Rodney Olson, age 71, of Hampton, passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Memorial Hospital in Aurora, Nebraska.
No formal services will be held. Visitation to greet friends and family will be from 5 – 7 P.M. Thursday, June 28th at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora, Nebraska. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
OBITUARY: RODNEY OLSON
Rodney Dean Olson, the son of Kenneth C. and Betty A. (Nielson) Olson, was born in Grand Island, Nebraska on June 15, 1947 and passed away in Aurora, Nebraska on June 23, 2018, at the age of 71.
He grew up in Grand Island and the family moved to Colorado, where he graduated from Arvada West High School in 1964. Rod enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served several years before being honorable discharged.
Rod was an over the road truck driver. Over his career he worked for Eberly Trucking, N.,T.C., White Farms, G.I. Express and Sunrise Trucking in G.I.. Rod retired in 2016 due to health reasons.
Rod enjoyed the 4th of July celebrations, grilling, fishing, hunting and hanging out with his friends. He loved spending time with his grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Those left to cherish his memory are his two sisters, Karen Warden of Aurora, Colorado and Chris Bianca of Phoenix, Arizona; special friend, Frannie Bottorf of Hampton and three step-daughters, Kaya Leonard of Aurora, Sheila Bottorf of Aurora and Bonnie Bottorf of Central City and three grandkids, D.J. Leonard, Thereza Bottorf and Jonathan Britt and several nieces and nephews.
