Linda Johnson Petzoldt

Linda Johnson Petzoldt, age 53, of Aurora, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2017, at her home.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, May 6th at the Presbyterian United Church of Christ in Aurora. Pastor Bruce Bradley will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to the family. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. OBITUARY: LINDA JOHNSON PETZOLDT

Linda Kay (Johnson) Petzoldt, the daughter of Warren Richard ‘Dick’ and Margaret Ann (Carnes) Johnson, was born in Grand Island, Nebraska on December 13, 1963 and passed away in Aurora, Nebraska on April 30, 2017, at the age of 53.

Linda was raised and educated in Aurora, graduating from Aurora High School in 1982. Linda was a lover of sports, competing in high school volleyball and basketball and also softball during the summer months. She was awarded a two year basketball scholarship to Platte College in Columbus, Nebraska, while playing there she was named to the National Junior College first team. She graduated with an associate degree in sports sociology.

After graduation from Platte College, she started working for T.J. Jones at Computer Spectrum in Aurora. Later she started working at Overhead Door Corporation in Grand Island as the purchasing agent for 13 years. Linda also was the secretary for realtor Mr. Tim Plate in Grand Island.

In August 8, 1992, she was united in marriage to Robert Petzoldt at the Methodist Church in Aurora and they later divorced.

Linda had the loving companionship of animals, especially, a miniature toy poodle, Muffins and Katiey.

Linda enjoyed her hobbies of collecting basketball cards, especially Duke Basketball and Coach K, also Sports Illustrated magazines and special time she spent at her computer. She loved the outdoors, planting her flowers and in the garden in the spring time.

Linda treasured the time she spent with her grandparents (Lloyd & Mable Carnes) growing up, also special family members and friends. She enjoyed special time with her step-daughter, Brandi and husband, and their three sons, Cooper, Jack and Tyler. There were also special times she spent going fishing with late stepson, Travis Petzoldt.

Linda loved the outdoors especially running. Then in 2003 she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. This was a very big change in her life after years in Grand Island. She was happy to move back to Aurora, to purchase a new home and to spend time with her mother and her yorkies, Katiey and Bailey.

She was preceded in death by her father and brother.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her mother, Margaret Johnson of Aurora; uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
