Vernon 'Bud' Salmon

Vernon ‘Bud’ Salmon, age 90, of Phillips, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2016, at Hamilton Manor.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, October 18th at the Evangelical Covenant Church. Pastor Karl Larson will officiate. Interment will be in Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 - 7 P.M. Monday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: VERNON ‘BUD’ SALMON

Vernon D. ‘Bud’ Salmon, the son of Royal and Lettie (Magers) Salmon, was born in Aurora, Nebraska on February 17, 1926 and passed away in Aurora, Nebraska on October 14, 2016, at the age of 90.

He grew up on the family farm south of Aurora and graduated from Aurora High School in 1944.

Bud married Adeline Reisinger on July 6, 1946 at Kansas. To their union they had two children: Doris and Doug. They farmed in Hamilton County their entire married life. Adeline passed away on May 2, 2009.

He enjoyed family, farming, going to dances and socializing with neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife and sister, Irene Salmon.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Doris Groelz of South Lake Tahoe, California; son, Doug (Nancy) Salmon of Aurora; 4 grandchildren, Andy (Isabelle) Groelz, Ryan (Melissa) Groelz, Amy (Zeth) Macy and Laura (Pat) Fortney and 6 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Charlene (Ron) Beecher of Cincinnati, Ohio and Jo Ellen (Gary) Ross of Aurora; brother, Jim (Bev) Salmon of Evansville, Indiana and numerous other family members and friends.
