OBITUARY: ROGER SCHOENFELDER
Roger William Schoenfelder, the son of Leonard William and Estella Mary (Bohr) Schoenfelder, was born in Mitchell, South Dakota on February 7, 1951 and passed away in Aurora, Nebraska on September 21, 2017, at the age of 66.
He grew up and attended school in White Lake, South Dakota. He began working on the family farm and neighboring farms at an early age.
Throughout the years Roger did various construction, carpentry and mechanical work in South Dakota and Nebraska. In 1977, he moved to Nebraska and began working for Bonnavilla Homes with his brother, Ivan. Roger was united in marriage to Kelley Kusler on March 17, 1978 at Spencer, South Dakota. Roger and Kelley had three daughters: Anna, Gina and Missy. Roger worked for Bonnavilla Homes until he was injured in 1992, from which he took up tinkering and his proudest job, full time dad.
Roger took great pride in helping others and wouldn’t think twice about giving away his last nickel to someone in need. He could fix and make anything and his tools have been said to be an extension of his brain and were very important to him.
He loved his family, repairing and fixing things, hunting, garage saling, and all things Mopar. Roger was the perfect definition of a Dad, Grandfather, Spouse, Brother, Uncle and Son. He befriended everyone he met.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Julia, Dawn, Ben and Ivan and grandson, Elijah Powell.
Those left to cherish his memory are his life-long partner, Kelley of Aurora; three daughters, Anna (Ryan) Clauson of Bismarck, North Dakota, Gina (Ravi) Singh of Aurora and Missy (Jon) Powell of Marquette and 5 grandchildren. He is also survived by 8 siblings, Denny (Shirley) Schoenfelder, Rosalie (Elwin) Hohn all of Mitchell, South Dakota, Rita (Steve) Rieffenberger of Watertown, South Dakota, Patricia McKaughn Gedney of Utica, New York, David Schoenfelder of Platte, South Dakota, Marcia (Bob) Cline of Central City, Teresa (Roger) Gebel of Mitchell, South Dakoa and Dan Schoenfelder of Scotland, South Dakota and many nieces, nephews and other family members.
