OBITUARY: LEROY SCHULTZ
LeRoy L. Schultz, the son of John L. and Helena (Loewen) Schultz, was born in Hillsboro, Kansas on December 28, 1928 and passed away in Lincoln, Nebraska on June 12, 2019, at the age of 90 years, 5 months and 13 days.
LeRoy grew up on a farm in Marion County, Kansas. He attended Springfield District 81 School. LeRoy married his best friend, Lilah Betty Goertzen, the love of his life on July 25, 1948 at the Mennonite Brethren Church in Henderson.
LeRoy started faming at an early age. After their marriage they moved to Hamilton County, Nebraska, where they farmed from 1948 – 1953. There they were blessed with two children, Virgil & Lowell. In 1953, they moved back to Kansas, where he farmed. LeRoy also worked for Heston and Buller Manufacturing. Two more children were born to their union, Milton & Lola. In 1959, the family moved to a farm in Hamilton County, where he resided until his death.
LeRoy was a jack of all trades, if he needed something he built it. He so enjoyed reading, old cars and antique Farmall tractors. But most of all he loved watching his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
He was saved after a revival meeting. LeRoy was baptized at the Springfield Church in Marion County, Kansas in 1945.
LeRoy and Lilah enjoyed 55 ½ years together and LeRoy had just celebrated his 90th birthday with a family and friends get together.
LeRoy loved working on antique cars and when he broke his back and could no longer get under cars he started working on antique tractors. He enjoyed this up until the last two weeks of his life. Most of all he loved his Lord and his last wishes were that all his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren would be saved and he would see them all in heaven.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Helena Schultz; in-laws, John B. & Katherine Goertzen; his wife, Lilah; son, Milton; brothers, Harry (Bertha) Schultz; sister, Elma (Albert) Warkentin; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Merle (Adella) Goertzen and Glen (Deloris) Rempel.
Those left to cherish his memory are his three children, Virgil (Charlene) Schultz, Lowell (Bertha) Schultz and Lola Dorsey; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Jonny (Viola) Schultz of Buhler, Kansas.
