Ron Spence

Ron Spence, age 63, of Aurora, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2016, at CHI Health-Saint Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.

Celebration of Life will be held 10:30 A.M. Monday, July 11th at United Methodist Church in Aurora. Rev. Mary Scott will officiate. Inurnment will be at Aurora Cemetery. No Visitation. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made in care of the family. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: RONALD SPENCE

Ronald Dean Spence, the son of William ‘Tom’ and Alice (Hrebec) Spence, was born in Grand Island, Nebraska on April 8, 1953 and passed away in Grand Island, Nebraska on July 7, 2016, at the age of 63.

Ron grew up in Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1971. He went on to complete his barber training in Lincoln. Over his career, he began barbering in Grand Island until 1983 when he set up shop in Aurora on the town square.

On August 23, 2008, Ron married Peg Copeland. They made their home in Aurora.

Ron loved music. He was a talented musician and song writer that played with several local bands over the years. He also enjoyed to golf, fish and family get togethers.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Brandon Spence and brother, Jim Spence.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Peg of Aurora; three sons, Travis (Tara) Spence of Kearney, Tyler (Lindy) Spence and grandson Casen Spence of Lincoln and Chris (Sarah) Spence and grandsons, Caleb and Coen Spence of Lincoln; two step-children, Jeffrey Krotz of Lincoln and Erin L. Krotz of Washington, D.C.; sister, Sharon (Jerry) Thiel of Grand Island; closest cousin, Don Hulinsky of Aurora; aunt & uncle, Marie & Ike Farritor of Alliance; in-laws, Hank & Mary Jane Carpenter of Tecumseh and many cousins, family members and friends.
