Lucille Thomsen, age 71, of Aurora, passed away Monday, January 18, 2016, at Memorial Hospital.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, January 22nd at St. John Lutheran Church at Kronborg. Pastor Ben Erzkus will officiate. Interment will be in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 - 7 P.M. Thursday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. OBITUARY: LUCILLE THOMSEN
Lucille Gladys Thomsen, the daughter of Arthur and Gladys (Ranard) Gimpel, was born on the family farm northeast of Giltner, Nebraska on January 27, 1944 and passed away in Aurora, Nebraska on January 18, 2016, at the age of 71.
She graduated from Giltner High School.
On January 25, 1970, she was united in marriage to Harlan Ivan Thomsen at Giltner. They farmed near Kronborg. Harlan passed away on January 19, 1988. After Harlan’s death she owned Lucille’s Apparel in downtown Aurora for many years.
Lucille spent the last 24 years with Robert McDonald. She enjoyed their time together with family and friends.
Lucille was a member of V.F.W Auxiliary and had been a volunteer at the V.A. Hospital in Grand Island.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Dean (Sharon) Gimpel and Robert (Dianne) Gimpel; sister, Betty (Morris) McNerney and brother-in-law, Art Decker.
Those left to cherish her memory are her life partner, Robert McDonald of Aurora and his children and grandchildren; two brothers, Garry (Arlene) Gimpel and Larry (Elaine) Gimpel all of Aurora; sister, Ruth Ann Decker of Grand Island, nieces and nephews, cousins and many other relatives and close friends.
