Delmer Wadell, age 77, of Aurora, passed away Friday, March 16, 2018, at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.
Private Family burial will be in the Aurora Cemetery at 9:15 on Saturday, March 24th followed by a Memorial Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 at the Evangelical Covenant Church 1009 1st Street, Aurora, Nebraska. Rev. Karl Larson will officiate. Memorials may be made in care of the Evangelical Covenant Church or the Hamilton Community Foundation, designated for an Ag Scholarship in Delmer’s name. OBITUARY: DELMER WADELL
Delmer Leroy Wadell, the son of Helmer and Verna (Kremer) Wadell, was born at Grand Island, Nebraska, on January 8, 1941, and passed away at Jacksonville, Florida, on March 16, 2018, at the age of 77.
Delmer grew up on the family farm outside of Aurora and graduated from Aurora High School in 1958. He returned to work alongside his father on the farm. Delmer continued to farm and was active in selling seed corn for nearly 40 years. He also enjoyed working at Morgan Men’s Wear during the winter season and cherished the many associations that brought.
Delmer was united in marriage to Lorey Palmberg on November 12,1965. They were loving parents to Lisa and Brent. Their grandchildren Zach, Caleigh, Dylan and “adopted” granddaughter, Ashley Lawton, have always held a special place in their hearts and continue spending time with them and creating special memories.
Delmer was a very active member of the Evangelical Covenant Church. He enjoyed helping with Extension, 4-H and FFA. Delmer was named an Honorary Chapter Farmer and held Honorary FFA State Degree. They invited many students out to the family farm, to experience riding horses, weiner roasts in the pasture and enjoying the swing in the barn. He touched the lives of many over the years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lisa Wadell Smith; son, Brent Wadell and sister-in-law, Phyllis Friesen.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lorey Wadell of Aurora; three grandchildren, Zach Wadell , Caleigh Wadell, Dylan Smith and “adopted” granddaughter, Ashley Lawton; son-in-law, Jason (Rachel) Smith of Gretna; brother, Don (Jan) Wadell of Lincoln; sister-in-law, Barbara (Bob) Person of Aurora; brother-in-law, Roy Friesen of Greeley, Colorado; 4 nieces & nephews, Doug (Robin) Person, Debra (Chris) Andersen, Paul (Kim) Friesen and Ingrid (Steve) Lundvall and many other family members and friends.
