Mia Weakland

Mia Weakland, age 51, of Aurora, passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018, at her home after battling breast cancer.

A Memorial Service will be held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, July 10th at the Chapel of Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Inurnment will be at a later date. No Visitation. Memorials may be made to the family. OBITUARY: MIA WEAKLAND

Mia Marie Weakland, the daughter of Jon and Ann (Gray) Vredeveld, was born at Omaha, Nebraska on September 6, 1966 and passed away in Aurora, Nebraska on July 6, 2018, at the age of 51.

She grew up in Grand Island and graduated from Northwest High School in 1984. Mia received an Associate’s Degree in Accounting from Central Community College. She worked as the manager for the Pump & Pantry in Doniphan.

Mia was united in marriage to Jerry Weakland on December 4, 1992. She currently was working at the Chapman Pump & Pantry.

Mia loved going to her kid’s activities, including baseball and rodeos. She also loved her two dogs, Bella & Nikki and her daughter’s horse, Gracie.

She was preceded in death by her father, John ‘Dutch’ Vredeveld and father-in-law, Norm Weakland and grandparents, Lloyd & Margaret Gray.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Jerry of Aurora; children, Kelby Weakland of Aurora, Kelsey Weakland of Aurora and Tyler Weakland & Carolyn Radil of Nebraska City; her mother, Ann Vredeveld of Alda; brother, Ray Vredeveld of Alda; mother-in-law, Jeannette Weakland of Grand Island; brother-in-law & sisters-in-law & families, Jim & Kaye Weakland of Grand Island, Steve & Julie Brooke of Benedict, John & Janet Weakland of Winterset, Iowa and Jennifer & Ray ‘Butch’ Evans of Grand Island and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
