Robert E. Weber

Robert ‘Bob’ Weber, age 77, of Giltner, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016, at CHI-St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center in Lincoln.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 2nd at the Chapel of Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Pastor Ron Harris will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Giltner Cemetery. Robert ‘Bob’ Eugene Weber, Sr. the son of Joseph and Esther (Pennington) Weber, was born at Beatrice, Nebraska on October 29, 1938 and passed away in Lincoln, Nebraska on July 28, 2016, at the age of 77.

Bob grew up in Bartlett and graduated from Wheeler County High School. He went to college in Milford, where he became a mechanic. Bob worked at John Markel Ford as the service manager for 10 years.

Bob was married to Peggy Moore in 1957; to this union they had five children. They later divorced. married Norma L. (Murphy) Smith in December 1973 at Grand Island. They lived in Wood River for several years. They moved to Fremont, where Bob worked at Valmont Industries as a welder in Valley, Nebraska for 20 years. They then spent several years in Nickerson before moving to their home in Giltner. Bob’s most recent job was an over the road truck driver for Sunrise Express, where he retired from in 2012. Norma passed away on December 22, 2014.

Bob was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan as well as a NASCAR fan. He enjoyed being outdoors and also doing his gardening. Bob loved driving his truck and taking care of all of his and Norma’s cats.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Norma.

Those left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Doug (Nadine) Weber of Grand Island and Robert E. Weber of Hastings; three daughters, Terri Holland of Phillips, Debra Brooks of Grand Island and Kathy Jo; grandchildren, Tasha (Jeremy) White, Joshua Brooks, Doug Weber, Jr. and numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Blaydon, Keagan and Emmah White and several other great-grandchildren and sister, Shirley Moore. He is also survived by Norma’s six children, Mike (Deb) Smith of St. Libory, Anita (Bob) Billington of Grand Island, Randy Smith and Marie Brown of Doniphan, Jeff Markworth of Encinitas, California, Vicki (Chuck) Brown of Grand Island and Tim Murphy of North Platte and other family members and friends.
