Shirley Wieczorek, age 83, of Aurora, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at the Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, December 3rd at the chapel of Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Pastor Ford Shenk will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 P.M. Friday Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Memorials may be made to the family. OBITUARY: SHIRLEY WIECZOREK
Shirley Rae Wieczorek, the daughter of George and Lois (Mock) Wilson, was born in Aurora, Nebraska on November 1, 1933 and passed away in Lincoln, Nebraska on November 30, 2016, at the age of 83.
She grew up in Aurora and attended Aurora High School. Shirley then went to work at the G.I. Ordinance Plant.
On March 2, 1955, she was united in marriage to Joseph Wieczorek, Sr. at Grand Island. They lived their early years in the Grand Island area. Shirley was an original worker at Niemono’s Pizza Place and then the Nebraska Veteran’s Home in Grand Island. They moved to Aurora in the late 1960’s. Shirley worked as a housekeeper Aurora Memorial Hospital for 23 years. Joe passed away on September 15, 1998.
Shirley loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She also liked completing word search puzzles, birdwatching and growing flowers in her yard.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and 9 brothers and sisters.
Those left to cherish her memory are her five children, Joe Wieczorek, Jr. and his wife Donna of Neuva Gorgana, Panama, Steven Wieczorek and his wife Kathy of Middleburg, Florida, Rebecca Spires and her husband Tim of Hordville, George Wieczorek of Grand Island and Hillary Gooder and her husband Kyle of Phillips; 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived 3 brothers, Gerald (Sally) Wilson of Aurora, Jim (Dianna) Wilson of Lincoln and John Wilson of Central City; 3 sisters, Connie May of Hastings, Charlotte Monson of Grand Island and Linda Modrell of McCook and many other family members and friends.
