Eileen Joan (Blase) Forsman, a resident of Memorial Community Care in Aurora, NE, was called home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, June 12, 2019.
A Celebration of Eileenís Life will be Friday June 28, 2019 at 11:00 am at Monroe Evangelical Free Church in rural Hamilton county, following a brief public inurnment service at 10 am at the Aurora cemetery near Aurora Nebraska. OBITUARY: EILEEN FORSMAN
Eileen was born southwest of Polk, NE, on January 30, 1932, at the home of her parents, Victor and Emilie Blase. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, also of rural Polk. After attending the church school through the eighth grade, she finished grades 9-12 at Hordville High school, graduating in 1949.
She received her teaching certificate from Kearney State Teachers College and taught school at District 45 in rural Hamilton County where she met Wilton Forsman, her future husband. She then taught at District 66 near Giltner, followed by two terms at District 59 near Phillips, 4th grade at Giltner Public, also kindergarten at Phillips Consolidated.
After Wiltonís discharge from the Army, they were married on January 31, 1954. They settled on a farm north of Chapman, later moving to their current home near Aurora.
Eileen was very active at Monroe Evangelical Free Church until her health caused her to retire. She served as a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, an AWANA leader, Womenís Missionary Society (WMS) member, including two terms as chairman of the WMS Eastern Division of the Midwest District EFCA. Eileen sang in the church choir, many community choirs, led the Junior Choir for many years, and was on the Building Committee during periods of construction on the new facilities at Monroe.
Active in the community, Eileen was a member of the Aurora Hospital Auxiliary for many years, was the 4-H Clothing Superintendent at the Hamilton County Fair for many years, served on Hamilton County Extension Board. She also competed on a couple of local bowling teams, sold season tickets for the G. I. Community Concert Assoc, and served on the board, donated blood and helped with the Red Cross Bloodmobile, Election Polls, and continued to substitute teach and tutor in Hamilton County as she was able.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Duane Blase, and her parents-in-law.
Eileen loved her family and prayed daily for each one by name.
Eileen is survived by her husband of over 65 years, Wilt Forsman; daughters Kris (John) Yockey, Nancy (Roy) Hofrichter, and sons Scott (Diane) Forsman and Paul (Barbara) Forsman; 10 grandchildren, Dan (Denae) Yockey, Kate Yockey, Tom (Paige) Yockey, Sara (Richard) Leung, Marc (Erin) Hofrichter, Janelle Forsman, Michael Forsman, Jacob (Julie) Forsman, Carly (James) Pruch, Rebekah Forsman, and 12 great-grandchildren; sister Lucile Bengtson and sister-in-law Joyce Blase and many nieces and nephews, and many friends.
