Robert Jorgensen

Bob Jorgensen, age 87, of Aurora, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at CHI-St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 28th at the United Lutheran Church in Hampton. Rev. Ricardo Riqueza will officiate. Private family inurnment will be in the United Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 - 7 p.m. Friday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. OBITUARY: ROBERT JORGENSEN

Robert W. Jorgensen, the son of Peter and Emma (Lagoni) Jorgensen, was born in Omaha, Nebraska on December 26, 1933 and passed away in Grand Island, Nebraska on August 25, 2021, at the age of 87.

Bob attended Dist. 79 grade school and graduated from Aurora High School in 1951. He excelled in football and track. Bob was named athlete of the year in 1951. Bob joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Okinawa. He was quartermaster in the 82nd squadron. Bob was honorably discharged after two years of service. Bob returned to drill irrigation wells for Condon.

Bob was united in marriage to Ann Madsen on April 18, 1964. They had two daughters: Carla and Deborah. In 1964, Bob started farming and did so until he retired in 1998. He was happy to have always lived on the family farm.

Bob was a member of the United Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council and was caretaker of the church cemetery for many years. He also served on the ASCS Office Board and the County Planning Board for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother and four sisters-in-laws.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ann of Aurora; two daughters, Carla (John) Jacobs of Aurora and Deborah (Craig) Wiese of Lindsay; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, Holger Jorgensen, George Jorgensen and John Jorgensen and a sister, Ann (Bill) Mann and many other family members and friends.
