Cornelia Kliewer, age 90, of Aurora, passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at home.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, June 9th at Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson. Rev. Chelsea Vaught will officiate. Private family inurnment will take place prior to the service. Visitation will be from 5 - 7 P.M. Wednesday at Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson. The service can be viewed by going to https://bethesdamc.org/watch-live. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Aurora Senior Center for FROG (Fitness Reaching Older Generation) or Meals on Wheels or the Bethesda Mennonite Church Livestream Fund. OBITUARY: CORNELIA KLIEWER
Cornelia Peters Kliewer was born February 25, 1932 to Lena (Friesen) Peters and the late Dietrich C Peters who died February 18, 1932. She was born on the farm 4 miles North of Stockham Nebraska.
Cornelia attended grade school at District 10 Hamilton County and then graduated from Henderson High School in 1950. She was baptized upon her confession of faith at the Bethesda Mennonite Church May 28, 1950 by the Rev Arnold Nickel.
When Cornelia was 10 years old, her mother died of cancer. She then went to live with her Uncle and Aunt Leonard C. & Sara Peters. She taught school in Hamilton County for 2 years and then married Henry Kliewer on April 8, 1953. They spent one year in Reedley California where Henry was in 1-W Service. They came back to the Henderson area to farm and then to Stockham where they also farmed. They had five children Kelly, Chester, Marty, Andrew and Dick. She loved to help Henry on the farm when the boys weren't around.
Cornelia was active in church and taught kindergarten Sunday School, she was a member of Mission Circle and the Care Team. She enjoyed sewing and all her children and grandchildren received quilts that were lovingly made. Her sewing machine was always humming. She loved gardening and flowers. And most recently enjoyed spending time at the Senior Center in Aurora and attend their exercise classes regularly. She leaves behind many friends there.
Cornelia is survived by her five children: Kelly (Becky) Kliewer of Aurora, Chester Kliewer of York, Marty Kliewer of Lincoln, Andrew (Susan) Kliewer of Papillion, Dick (Mindy) Kliewer of Aurora. Grandchildren: Mark (Becky) Kliewer, Paul (Gina) Kliewer, Sadie (Brandon) Young, Emily (James) McCartney, Jacob Kliewer, Austin (Jenna) Kliewer, Marie Kliewer, Sydney Kliewer and Jacalyn Kliewer. Greatgrandchildren: Henry and William Kliewer, Jacquobi Kliewer, Levi and Elizabeth Young, Makayla, Colton and Avery McCartney. Brothers Herb (Jean) Peters of Aurora, Levi (Leanna) Peters Henderson and sister-in-law, Elvera Peters of South Dakota.
Preceded in death: Husband, Henry Kliewer; siblings, Art (Lena) Peters, Marie (Vic) Miller, Hilda (Howard) Friesen, Jake (Alice/Linda) Peters, Clarence (Ester) Peters, Ed Peters and John (Donna) Peters.
