Marie Wadell Otto

Marie Wadell Otto, age 99, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Memorial Community Care.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 14th at the Westside Covenant Church, 1009 First Street, Aurora. Rev. Karl Larson will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be made to Westside Covenant Church. OBITUARY: MARIE WADELL OTTO

Marie Kindvall Wadell Otto, the daughter of Jonas and Tillie (Carlson) Kindvall, was born at Aurora, Nebraska on August 28, 1921 and passed away on April 11, 2021 at the age of 99.

As a young child Marie lived in Murphy. She attended school and graduated from high school in 1939. Marie taught school at Grant Center District #64 for three years.

On April 22, 1943 she was united in marriage to Everett Wadell at Aurora. While Everett served his country in the Army Air Force, Marie worked as a switchboard operator during the time spent in Harlington, Texas and as a tech teacher in the office of the Army in Kingman, Arizona. Everett was honorably discharged on February 7, 1949, at which time they returned to farm in Hamilton County. Two children were born to bless their home. Everett and Marie farmed most of their married life near Aurora. Everett passed away on August 16, 1979.

On May 5, 1984, Marie was united in marriage to Norris E. Otto. They were blessed with many years of retirement in which they enjoyed time with their combined families. Norris passed away on January 3, 2006.

She was a long-time member of the Westside Covenant Church (was the Evangelical Covenant Church) in Aurora and was active in many areas of ministry: Covenant Women, Sunday School teacher, VBS teacher and deaconess. Marie enjoyed entertaining friends and family in her home. She liked to travel and play cards. Marie especially liked to bake and her family always enjoyed her cinnamon rolls and Swedish rye bread.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; brothers, Ruben Kindvall (Roberta Dietrick), Jim Kindvall (Betty); sister, Dorothy Henriksen (Clarence); brother-in-law, Helmer Wadell (Verna) Lennart Wadell (Garnett); sister-in-law, Anna Wadell and step-son, William Fischer.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her daughter, Ann (William) Oswald of Aurora; son, Lee (Jane) Wadell of Lincoln; step-children, Sharie Fischer of Louisville and Rev. Teyrl (Judy) Otto of Omaha; four grandchildren, Ty (Tiffanie) Oswald of Aurora, Tiffany (Randy) Wild of St. Louis, Eric (CarLee) Wadell of Gretna and Jared (Tiffany) Wadell of Lincoln; great-grandchildren, Hayes, Cade, Reeve and Emersyn Oswald, Everly, Sadie, Josiah, Luke and Hallie Wadell; step-grandchildren, Clifford, Wallace, Craig and Wade Fischer, Joel, Jay, and Michelle Otto; 15 step-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
