OBITUARY: MIKE PENNER
Michael Dennis Penner, the son of Leroy "Fritz" and Phyllis "Gwen" (Cass) Penner was born at Aurora, Nebraska on July 31, 1946 and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska on October 19, 2022 at the age of 76.
He grew up in Aurora and graduated from Aurora High School in 1964. Mike went to Milford College for a two-year degree in Tool and Die Machinery.
Mike married Stephanie Lynn Thompson on February 5, 1966 at Aurora. They had two children, Traci and Sean. Mike worked at the Ordinance Plant and was a bartender at the Grandview in Aurora in the 1970's. He opened his own business, Penner Machine Company in the mid 1970's. As Mike aged, he stopped "working" but you could still find him at his shop if you needed something small done. He would do his best to help you out.
When Traci was a kid, the family went camping in the bus and jeeping in the river. This was every weekend activity in the summer. Then when Sean came along, they took up golfing. As they became empty nesters, riding the motorcycle was one of his and Stephs favorite things to do.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law, Marty Penner, brother-in-law, Norman Thompson and parents-in-law, Vic & Maggie Thompson.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Steph of Aurora; daughter, Traci (Norman) Willey of Gibbon; son, Sean (Emily) Penner of Kearney; 3 grandsons, Benjamin Willey and his partner Jordan Hinton, Isaac Penner and Levi Penner. He is also survived by his brother Steve (Dee) Penner of North Platte, brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Michael and Diane Thompson of Sutton, Don and Dawn Haymart of Aurora and Mary Thompson of Alta Vista, KS and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
