Bonnie N. Rudy, age 93, of Harvard, formerly of Giltner, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Harvard Rest Haven.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 5th at Stockham Community Church. Rev. Paul Nauman will officiate. Burial will be in Giltner Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Visitation with the family will be from 5 - 7 p.m. Thursday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. The services will be livestreamed on The Stockham Community Church Facebook page for those who are unable to attend in person. Current CDC guidelines will be followed and masks are required. OBITUARY: BONNIE N. RUDY
Bonnie Naomi Rudy, the daughter of Carl and Hazel (Soward) Wagner, was born at Giltner, Nebraska on November 18, 1927 and passed away at Harvard, Nebraska on February 2, 2021, at the age of 93.
Bonnie grew up near Giltner, attended country school and Giltner High School, graduating in 1945. She attended UNL for one year and taught rural school in Hamilton County. Bonnie also worked as a seamstress at the Stuhr Museum and at Grandma Max's Restaurant.
Bonnie grew up and married and lived her entire life in Hamilton County, near Giltner. On March 18, 1949, Bonnie married Kenneth Rudy, who was previously married to her sister, Glena, until her death in 1947. Bonnie raised her two nephews as her own, and they had four more children. Later on, they moved to Giltner. Kenneth passed away on June 10, 1991. Bonnie lived at East Park Villa in Aurora for several years and then moved to the Harvard House/ Rest Haven.
Bonnie was a 4-H member and a 4-H leader. She was a lifetime member of the Giltner United Methodist Church where she belonged to the Methodist Women's Group and served as a Sunday School and Bible School teacher, GGG Club, Nibble Nots (Neighborhood Club), Giltner Lion's Club ('first' woman member), Giltner Library Board, and was active in anything that improved the lives of the citizens of Giltner, Nebraska.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Garry Rudy; sister, Glena Wagner-Rudy and brother, Warren Wagner.
Those left to cherish her memory are her 5 children, Kent (Nancy) Rudy of Alma, Don (Connie) Rudy of Aurora, Bill (Gaylene) Rudy of Aurora, Dave Rudy of Giltner and Barb (Joel) Barnett of Harvard; daughter-in-law, Bonnie J. Rudy of Aurora; 18 grandchildren; Brandy (Sharla) Rudy, Vikki (Nick) Lind, Shane Rudy, Reagan (Roger) Wemhoff, Kim (Gene) Maruska, Stephanie Kemerling, Jesse (Amy) Rudy, Melanie (Dick) Schmidt, Stacy (Mark) Sands, Joe (Renee) Fishler, Chris (Katie) Fishler, Jeremy (LaCosta) Fishler, Jessica (Kamau) Turner, Daisy (Dave) Dahlquist, Zack (Heather) Rudy, Natalie Wagner, Paige (Justin) Yost and Dani (Ryan) Lemburg; 39 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and many other family members and friends.
