Randy Smith, age 75, of Lincoln, formerly of Aurora, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Bryan/LGH East Medical Center.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, August 6th at St. John's Lutheran Church in Kronborg. Rev. Ruth Boettcher will officiate. Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery prior to the service at 9:30 A.M. Visitation will be from 5 - 7 Friday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. The service will be live streamed on the St. John's Lutheran Facebook Page. Memorials may be made to the family to designate at a later date. OBITUARY: RANDALL SMITH
Randall Morris Smith, the son of Morris Hans and Dorothy Jean (Olsen) Smith, was born in Aurora, Nebraska on September 21, 1946 and passed away in Lincoln, Nebraska on July 23, 2022, at the age of 75.
Randall lived on the family farm with his parents. He attended rural school for the first three years of his schooling and then attended Aurora Public Schools through graduation from Aurora High School in 1964. Following high school, he attended business college in Grand Island and later worked in various places in Missouri and Illinois. Randy returned to Aurora to farm the family farm in 1969. His parents owned and operated a plumbing business and rental properties in Aurora and assisted with that. Randy worked for a construction company, a farm store, grocery store and a fertilizer plant during the years after 1975. Randy also worked for Midland Area Agency on Aging as the bus driver for the Hamilton Country Public Transportation. After retirement Randy and Marie moved to Lincoln in 2008.
On August 16, 1970 Randy married Marie Hawthorne and they were blessed with almost 52 years of happiness and two daughters: Melanie and Vicki.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; sister, Sandra; infant brother, Richard; sister-in-law, Thelma (Gene) Marshall; brother-in-law, Don (Ardeth) Hawthorne and brother-in-law, Don Duncan.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Marie of Lincoln; two daughters, Melanie (Mike) Friend and children, Kaylee, Jacob, Elijah and Elizabeth and Vicki (Justus) Taylor and children, Samuel, Corinne, Camden and Marie's son, Erik (Mary) Meyer and children, Cheryl (Manuel) their children, Amberleise and Lovaeh, Mikaela and Morgan and Aunts, Dorothy Wilson and Judy Sullivan; sister-in-law, Lois (Al) Walcott and Mina Duncan and numerous nephews and nieces and many other relatives and friends.
