Dean Thieszen

Dean Thieszen, age 83, of Aurora, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at Memorial Community Care.

A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 A.M., Thursday, June 16th at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Rev. Rod Goertzen will officiate. No Visitation. The graveside service was held on June 3, 2022 at Farmer's Valley Cemetery east of Stockham. Memorials may be made to the family to designate at a later date. Dean Robert Thieszen, the son of Aaron E. and Helen (Epp) Thieszen, was born on the family farm in York County, Nebraska on April 11, 1939 and passed away in Aurora, Nebraska on June 1, 2022, at the age of 83.

Dean grew up in the Henderson area and attended country school near Henderson. Dean worked as a farmer all his life.

On October 21, 1960, he was united in marriage to Frances Underwood at York, NE. They had three sons: Todd, Brian and Jeff. In the first few years of his marriage Dean worked at York Plumbing & Heating, then on to farming in the Henderson area. They moved to Grand Junction, Colorado from 2005-2007. They moved to Aurora, NE in 2007 and continued to live there the rest of his life. Frances passed away on December 28, 2008.

Dean was married to Barbara Smith Dietrich on October 23, 2010.

Dean was a volunteer in Aurora at the Senior Center, the Edgerton Center, the Plainsman Museum and Hamilton Manor. Dean liked to fish, drive horses, go horseback riding, attend horse sales and shows with his sons and go to coffee and visit with the guys.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Frances; two sisters, Nina Smith and Marcella Martens and two brothers, James Thieszen and Erland Thieszen

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Barbara Thieszen of Aurora; three sons, Todd (Shariel) Thieszen of McCook, Brian (Angie) Thieszen of Grand Junction, CO and Jeff (Lee) Thieszen of Milford; 6 grandchildren, Jake (Kelsey) Thieszen, Tyler (Kassie) Thieszen, Morgan (Spencer) Vivian and Hannah (Kyle) Tucker, Nonna (Isaac) Mikat and Seth (Dixie) Christian and 9 great-grandchildren. Barb's three children, Laura (Tom) Deets, Brenda (Don) Wohlgemuth and Barry (Rhonda) Dietrich and 8 grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister Lela Regier and two brothers, Glendon Thieszen and Leland Thieszen and several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
