Louise Ann Umbenhower, age 89, of Aurora went home to be with Jesus on May 13, 2021 at Memorial Community Care in Aurora with her family by her side.
Mass of Christian burial will be on Tuesday, May 18th at 10:30 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Aurora, Nebraska. Father Loras Grell will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7p.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. A Rosary service will be at 7:00 following the visitation. Mass & Rosary will be livestreamed on St. Mary's, Aurora Facebook page for those who are unable to attend in person. Per the family's request, because LouAnn was a huge Cardinals fan, we would encourage all the wear red or St. Louis Cardinals attire. Interment will be in the Aurora Catholic Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Nebraska Children's Home Society. Higby-McQuiston in charge of local arrangements. OBITUARY: LOU ANN UMBENHOWER
Louise "LouAnn" Umbenhower was born August 23, 1931 in Ashton, Nebraska to Alexander and Martha (Gappa) Maciejewski. LouAnn grew up and attended school in Ashton. The family moved to Grand Island in 1963. She married Delmer Umbenhower on May 20, 1967 at Grand Island. The couple then made their home at Phillips, Nebraska until 1988 when they moved to Aurora where they resided the remainder of their married life. Delmer died May 4, 1988.
LouAnn was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic singing with the church choir as well as serving on the church's Altar Society. She was also a member of the Aurora Women's Bowling Association serving as the organization's secretary. She worked for 16 years at the Pizza Hut in Aurora. LouAnn was a huge fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed watching them play baseball.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Delmer; her parents; one brother, Richard Maciejewski; and one granddaughter, Kaylan Louise Umbenhower.
LouAnn is survived by her son, Jerold (Stacy) Umbenhower of Lincoln; grandsons Dylan (special friend Hannah Judkins) Umbenhower and Jaxon Umbenhower all of Lincoln; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and the special staff and nurses at Memorial Community Care.
